Carolyn Wing Greenlee has taught hundreds of people of all ages to sing, and has taught experienced singers how to use their voices to their greatest potential. Most have simply not had the exercises needed to use their voices effectively. A few people are born with exceptional voices, but everyone can improve with effort and understanding.

An unconventional approach to vocal training, this CD is for warming up the voice and developing its capabilities. The fifteen minutes of exercises are designed to stretch the range, both higher and lower, and to create strength and resonance in the upper range and flexibility and lyricism in the lower range. It does not turn you into an opera singer; it enables you to have increased ability to express whatever color you want in song. The exercises are beneficial for all styles of singing in any musical genre.

• Use it around the house to strengthen and expand your vocal range
• Backstage before a performance
• Before tracking a vocal in the studio
• In your car on the way to a gig, or wherever

An eight-page booklet provides explanations of how the voice works and what it takes to improve the quality and control of the voice. A simple explanation of each exercise is also provided.

The CD is made up of seven safe and effective exercises:

Track 01 - Thirds
Track 02 - Snowplow
Track 03 - Stretching the Falsetto
Track 04 - Pitch Matching with Vowels
Track 05 - Staccato Octave Jumps
Track 06 - Pitch Matching with Vowel Changes
Track 07 - Octave in 3rds with Staccato Vowels

The unusual part of this CD is that the voice doing the exercises is not perfect. Instead of demonstrating only what should be, it also shows what you can expect if you are not strong and controlled. While you’re learning and growing, you’re bound to make some ugly noises. This way you don’t have to feel embarrassed. You hear that it’s simply part of the process.

Even experienced and well-trained singers make mistakes when first learning this set of exercises, so don't be discouraged if you do. That's not the point of it anyway. The point is, in a very short time you should notice a marked improvement in vocal control and quality. In our studio we've witnessed many singers having trouble tracking a vocal without warming up their voices properly first. We've stopped them and had them go through the exercises, and quite often they nail the track on the very next take.

Music is a precious gift. Your voice is a precious instrument. Together, they may bless the world with your song. I hope this exercise program will help you express your heart to the glory of God, who made music, voices, and you.
